Every nursery day is different! Each room has a routine which is flexible to meet the needs of each child. Daily activities are planned to meet children’s interests and developmental needs and to help them learn about festivals, celebrations and the world around them.

Lots of time is spent playing, singing, reading stories, developing friendships and exploring in soft play or outside. Staff are very hands on, and model play to ensure every child is given the opportunity to thrive and meet their full potential.

We have many procedures in place to ensure allergies are managed safely.

  • During the settling in session, you will be asked to complete a health care plan and share information regarding your child’s allergy. Staff will talk to you about how the allergy is managed at home and discuss how we can implement this at nursery. If necessary, you will be asked to provide medication to keep on site.

  • Menus are adjusted and checked with you to ensure they are suitable for your child.

  • Coloured/patterned plates and bowls are assigned to children with allergies to ensure they only receive food from their own menu.

  • Staff are vigilant with seating arrangements at meal and snack times.

  • Kitchen procedures are in place to limit the risk of contamination of allergen foods.

All meals and snacks are prepared in our designated kitchen. We are registered with the Environmental Health Team and use the Safer Food Better Business pack which outlines the food safety practices in place to ensure safe methods of food storage, preparation and cleaning. Staff carry out food safety and hygiene training to ensure robust procedures.

We have a large enclosed outdoor play area located at the rear of the building. Each room has their own designated space to ensure safe access to age-appropriate resources. Outdoor play is an important part of our daily routine.

We offer flexible settling in sessions to support you and your child as they begin their nursery journey! During these sessions, you are encouraged to ask any questions you may have as you meet your child’s key person and the practitioners working in their room. We value the opportunity these visits give us to get to know your child and to welcome them to nursery. We pride ourselves on providing a safe and nurturing environment for both you and your child.

We appreciate how difficult it can be to leave your child at nursery but please be assured that we will do our best to make you and your child feel at ease! You are encouraged to ask any questions you may have, and staff will talk you through how your child will spend their day. You will be introduced to all staff working with your child, including their key person and get to see where they will be playing.

You are welcome to call the nursery to see how your child is getting on and we try to ensure you are given as much information as possible at the end of the day. You will be given some information about the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and other important information to support you and your child during this process. When your child is due to leave us to go to school or another setting, we will work with you to ensure this process is as smooth as possible.

We aim to ensure all children are prepared for their transition to school and offer advice on how you can support them at home too. We share information with their teacher and invite them into the setting to meet your child. In the months leading up to the school transition, more of a focus is placed around activities which encourage independence, positive relationships and communication skills, physical development and healthy routines. We want the experience to be a positive one and ensuring their emotional readiness for school is our top priority.

Our ethos is simple…’Learning Through Play’.

We want every child to enjoy their time at nursery and to achieve their full potential. We aim to achieve this by providing learning opportunities through play that are embedded into their daily routine. Qualified, experienced and enthusiastic practitioners plan exciting activities and play experiences that are fun and inviting. By getting to know the children we learn about their interests, the things that excite them and how they learn best.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is embedded into everything we do. The EYFS sets the standards for promoting the learning, development and safety of children from birth to five years in all Ofsted registered settings. It outlines what adults must do to help children learn and develop and to be healthy and safe.

  • If your child is feeling unwell, we recommend they stay at home until they are well enough to attend nursery. This includes illnesses such as sickness and diarrhoea, high temperature and any infectious diseases.

  • If your child has been prescribed medication to treat an illness, they must stay at home for at least 24 hours after starting the medication and only return to nursery when they are well enough.

  • If your child is unwell, we would always recommend that you speak to a member of staff who will advise on individual cases regarding attendance.

If a child becomes unwell at nursery, we will make every effort to contact you to arrange collection.

We provide nappies, wipes, Sudocrem, Vaseline, suncream, sun hats, resources for activities etc.

We ask you to ensure your child has spare clothes, shoes suitable for indoor play (not needed for babies), milk feeds, suitable clothing for outdoor play and any comfort items they may need throughout the day. If your child is toilet training, we ask for extra spare clothing as children may get more distracted at nursery!

If you prefer to use a particular brand of nappies, barrier cream or sun cream you are asked to provide these.

No. We ask that milk feeds are made up before coming to nursery. You may bring ready mixed cartons or a bottle with water and a container with milk powder, but these must be measured at home to ensure the correct amount.
